Seacoast VeloKids is a non-profit organization dedicated to the introduction and promotion of cycling to the youth of New Hampshire's Seacoast communities. Currently we are developing a mountain biking program, with a five-year vision to expand into multiple disciplines across a variety of age groups. Our goal is to promote cycling as a lifelong activity as part of a healthy lifestyle. We are a proud division of the non-profit Seacoast Area Bike Routes (SABR).
Elementary programs are beginning soon. Our interest flyers have been sent and kids are signing up now. This year we are in three schools - Dondero, Little Harbour and New Franklin - all in Portsmouth. Learn more here...
Seacoast VeloKids was born from the simple desire to get more kids involved with cycling. As a group of avid cyclists, many with young children of our own, we wanted to expose more local children to the simple joy of cycling and the tremendous cycling resources available in the Seacoast of New Hampshire. See Our Mission and Our Vision for more.
Kids + Bikes = :)
Set a kid riding and you set them on a winning course for life. While cycling is a sure way to stimulate a child’s mind and body, our ultimate goal is foster an environment that helps them enjoy the outdoors in a way that makes them feel good about themselves. Whether our program leads to a lifelong love of recreational riding or illuminates professional-level potential, we know each child will have a smile on their face each time they pedal with us. It is this joy that motivates all of our efforts. Kids + Bikes = VeloKids
Take a Kid Mountain Biking 2014!!!
It is back for 2014 and this year we are starting early with a June 1st, Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day (TAKMBD) at Stratham Hill Park. Details and registration will be available soon but in the mean time check out all the fun we had last year here.
Kids and Mountain Biking
Our program is designed to get kids riding with confidence on simple trails and paths. We will start on grass and in fields to build leg strength as well as introduce that "off road" feel. As the program progresses we will introduce trails and paths. For more information see the Kids Program page.
